Dead Ink Apparel's first promotional push is in the Jan/Feb issue of Horrorhound Magazine. I made the arrangements with Horrorhound before Christmas and I've been eagerly anticipating what my ad would look like in print. I went to the mall today, browsed the newsstand and came across Horrorhound Issue #33 and quickly leafed through until I came across the glory that was my ad. I know it might not mean much to some, but seeing my ad in the magazine was like a great accomplishment. You're probably thinking "Justin, if you pay ad rates, of course your ad will appear in a magazine"… well, stop thinking that. Let me sit on this throne for a minute…ha.
When I started to design the ad, I had a few different ideas. I was going to have an ad featuring some of my models in the shirts but I decided against it. I ended up going with the "teaser movie poster" look. I thought it left a little bit of mystery to what it was about. Was that a good or bad idea?
Onto some real news. I have quite a bit of stuff lined up for Dead Ink Apparel… lots of really good opportunities. Staying tight lipped about this kind of stuff is really hard, but I don't want to end up looking like a big liar if things fall through. I already told my first lie, which was that Series 2 would be out in January. The bad news is, it won't. Well, kind of. I have 2 new shirts ready that will be up for sale by the end of the month. 2 Shirts can't be considered a new series, so I guess consider it an extension of the first series. Does it really matter? I don't know. Honestly though, these two new shirts are incredible. Just you wait and see!
As always, I ask you please check out and "like" Dead Ink on Facebook. I am on there more often and tend to update it more frequently than the website right now.
